Co-parenting apps compared: which one suits you?

There are a handful of apps for separated parents. Below are the four mentioned most often in the Netherlands, side by side: Harmoneaz, BeNice, 2Houses and OurFamilyWizard. Feature by feature, with what they cost and where your data is stored.

We make Harmoneaz, so we are not impartial. That is why every claim has its source at the bottom of the page, and why we also say where another app does better.

This page is written for parents living in the Netherlands. Prices are those in the Dutch App Store and Google Play.

The short answer

  • Do you live in the Netherlands and want the schedule, agreements, child support and expenses in one place? Harmoneaz. Built for the Dutch situation, with child support and the annual indexation, a packing list for every handover, and the lowest price.
  • Is communication difficult? BeNice or Harmoneaz. Both check your message before you send it. BeNice goes further: an AI coach rewrites your message and a filter takes the blame out of what you receive. Harmoneaz gives a tip, on your own device and without AI.
  • Do you want one subscription for the whole family and a shared photo album? 2Houses or BeNice. There, one parent pays for the whole family.
  • Do you live in the United States, or has a court ordered you to use an app? OurFamilyWizard. Widely used in court cases there, with certified reports.

Does it say “Unknown”? Then the app says nothing about it on its website or in the app store. So it may well exist; if in doubt, ask the app. Checked on 19 October 2026.

Per app: who it suits, strengths and weaknesses

Harmoneaz

Who it suits: Parents in the Netherlands who want the practical side well organised: schedule, agreements, child support and expenses.

Strengths

  • Built for the Netherlands: school holidays per region, week numbers, child support with the annual indexation.
  • Everything is connected: turn an agreement from Discussions into a calendar event, a task or a parent agreement with one tap.
  • A packing list and day notes for every handover.
  • Start an expense with a photo or PDF of the receipt: the app reads it on your own device, without AI, and fills in the amount, date and shop.
  • When the other parent changes something in the calendar, a task or the custody schedule, you get a notification and see it straight away, without refreshing.
  • Discussions per topic; messages stay, with a tone tip that works on your own device. You see when the other parent read it, unless one of you turns that off.
  • Children, a new partner or grandparents can follow along, with their own rights per section.
  • Two-step verification, data in the EU, no ads.
  • The lowest price of the four, and the other parent can join without a subscription.

Weaknesses

  • Each parent who wants to add things themselves needs their own subscription.
  • No AI that rewrites your message.
  • No photo album and no medical file per child.
  • No web version for parents, and only Dutch and English.

BeNice

Who it suits: Parents for whom communication is difficult and who want help with how they say things.

Strengths

  • Strong on communication: an AI coach makes your message calmer, a filter takes the blame out of what you receive, and a cooling-off pause slows down pushing.
  • Photograph a receipt and let AI fill it in.
  • Dutch school holidays, also for Belgium and France.
  • Child details, documents and a shared photo album.
  • One subscription for the whole family; the other parent can also take part by e-mail.
  • Dutch company, data in the EU.

Weaknesses

  • More than twice as expensive as Harmoneaz.
  • No child support, no packing list and no tasks.
  • Children, a new partner or grandparents cannot join.
  • The AI features send text to an AI service (in the EU).

2Houses

Who it suits: Families who want one subscription and mainly need a shared calendar, expenses and a family journal.

Strengths

  • One subscription for the whole family, including children, grandparents and a mediator.
  • Calendar with change requests and syncing, expense overview with reports.
  • Info bank with child details and a journal with photos and videos.
  • Around since 2011, and also usable on the web.

Weaknesses

  • The Dutch App Store lists the app as English only.
  • No child support, no parenting plan, no packing list.
  • Unknown where the data is stored, and whether you can add extra security to your account.
  • Low rating on Google Play (2.5).

OurFamilyWizard

Who it suits: Parents in the US or the UK, or when a court orders an app.

Strengths

  • Well known to judges and lawyers in the US and the UK.
  • Message log that cannot be changed, with timestamps, ToneMeter and a writing assistant.
  • Extensive reports, certified from Premium.
  • Check-in with location at handovers, and calls through the app.

Weaknesses

  • Not in Dutch and not set up for the Netherlands: no school holidays, no indexation.
  • Each parent pays separately, and it is the most expensive of the four.
  • Data is stored in the United States.
  • Payments and child support in the app only work in the US.

What to look for when choosing

  • Will you both use it? An app only really works when both parents use it. Check what the other parent has to pay and what they can do without a subscription.
  • Does it fit the Netherlands? Think of school holidays per region, the parenting plan and the annual indexation of child support.
  • What is your biggest concern: the schedule, the expenses, the handovers or the tone of the conversations?
  • Who else needs to follow along: the children, a new partner, grandparents, a mediator?
  • Where is the data stored, and is text sent to an AI service? Check whether the app keeps your data in the EU and shows no ads.
  • Try it first. All apps except OurFamilyWizard have a free trial.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best co-parenting app in the Netherlands?

That depends on what you need. For the schedule, agreements, child support and expenses in the Dutch situation, Harmoneaz fits best. For help with difficult communication, BeNice is strong. 2Houses is handy if one parent wants to pay for the whole family.

Is there a free co-parenting app?

The four apps on this page are paid, but three have a free trial. With Harmoneaz, the other parent can join without a subscription and reply in Discussions. A shared calendar such as Google Calendar is free, but does not handle expenses, agreements or child support.

Do both parents have to pay?

With OurFamilyWizard, yes. With BeNice and 2Houses, one parent pays for the whole family. With Harmoneaz the subscription is per parent, but the other parent can view everything, check off the packing list and reply in Discussions without a subscription.

Which app takes Dutch school holidays into account?

Harmoneaz and BeNice put the Dutch school holidays per region in the calendar. With 2Houses you can import holidays; for OurFamilyWizard this is unknown.

Which app can keep track of child support?

Harmoneaz keeps track of child support and can apply the annual Dutch indexation. BeNice does not; with OurFamilyWizard it is only possible in the United States.

Which app is good for expats in the Netherlands?

Harmoneaz works in English and is built around Dutch rules: school holidays per region, week numbers and the annual indexation of child support. OurFamilyWizard is in English too, but is set up for the US and stores data there.
