Harmoneaz or 2Houses: which one suits you?

2Houses is a Belgian app for separated parents, in use since 2011. Harmoneaz is a Dutch app, built for the situation in the Netherlands. Below they are compared feature by feature.

We make Harmoneaz, so we are not impartial. That is why every claim has its source at the bottom of the page, and why we also say where 2Houses does better.

This page is written for parents living in the Netherlands. Prices are those in the Dutch App Store and Google Play.

The short answer

  • Choose 2Houses if one parent wants to pay for the whole family, you also want to use the app in a browser, or a journal with photos and an info bank with child details matter to you.
  • Choose Harmoneaz if you live in the Netherlands and want the schedule, agreements, child support with the annual indexation and expenses in one place, with a packing list for every handover and your data in the EU.

Strengths and weaknesses

Harmoneaz

Who it suits: Parents in the Netherlands who want the practical side well organised: schedule, agreements, child support and expenses.

Strengths

  • Built for the Netherlands: school holidays per region, week numbers, child support with the annual indexation.
  • Everything is connected: turn an agreement from Discussions into a calendar event, a task or a parent agreement with one tap.
  • A packing list and day notes for every handover.
  • Start an expense with a photo or PDF of the receipt: the app reads it on your own device, without AI, and fills in the amount, date and shop.
  • When the other parent changes something in the calendar, a task or the custody schedule, you get a notification and see it straight away, without refreshing.
  • Discussions per topic; messages stay, with a tone tip that works on your own device. You see when the other parent read it, unless one of you turns that off.
  • Children, a new partner or grandparents can follow along, with their own rights per section.
  • Two-step verification, data in the EU, no ads.
  • The lowest price of the four, and the other parent can join without a subscription.

Weaknesses

  • Each parent who wants to add things themselves needs their own subscription.
  • No AI that rewrites your message.
  • No photo album and no medical file per child.
  • No web version for parents, and only Dutch and English.

2Houses

Who it suits: Families who want one subscription and mainly need a shared calendar, expenses and a family journal.

Strengths

  • One subscription for the whole family, including children, grandparents and a mediator.
  • Calendar with change requests and syncing, expense overview with reports.
  • Info bank with child details and a journal with photos and videos.
  • Around since 2011, and also usable on the web.

Weaknesses

  • The Dutch App Store lists the app as English only.
  • No child support, no parenting plan, no packing list.
  • Unknown where the data is stored, and whether you can add extra security to your account.
  • Low rating on Google Play (2.5).
